Student@Home, a social enterprise on the arc programme, provide a simple, friendly, and low-cost IT service that brings trustworthy and knowledgeable IT students to homes or small businesses to help solve computer and technology issues. Barely 2 weeks after their recent Unltd Big Venture Challenge win, Student @ Home bagged the Social Entrepreneur award at the Information Technologists’ Company (ITC) Enterprise Awards on 12 June 2013.
The Information Technologists’ Company (ITC) Enterprise Awards recognize the achievements of people working in the ITC field, in the areas of growth, funding, success, recognition, innovation and stamina. The awards are focused on helping emerging entrepreneurs in tech-enabled businesses plan for their company’s future and, as ITC chairman John O’Connell said of the thirty-three finalists on the night: “Tonight, we have proved that the UK can create IT rock stars.”
There were five main Enterprise Awards; ‘Young Entrepreneur’, Emerging Entrepreneur’ ‘Developing Entrepreneur’ ‘Enterprise Award’ and ‘Special Award’. Nominations were made by ITC business mentors, non-executive directors and angel investors. Winners were decided on criteria covering growth, external recognition, innovation, successful funding event (or equivalent) and resolve/stamina.Kelly Klein, founder of Student @ Home said:
It was such a great honour just to attend the event as a nominee along with some of the industry’s brightest stars, but to take home this award is truly special and we are very thankful. Our company is still young and growing and this kind of recognition could not be more exciting or gratefully received. I am also very pleased on behalf of our talented and friendly team of students and would like to take this opportunity to thank them for all their hard work and commitment.
Congratulations Student @ Home!
